While it is our mission to help entrepreneurs live their dreams, anyone can sign up and take advantage of our low postage rates. When you sign up with Chit Chats, you have the option of creating either a business or personal account. Learn more about personal and business accounts What if I don't live near a Chit Chats location? If you are unable to visit a branch or drop spot to drop off your shipments, you can buy a SmartDrop label to drop off at one of 2500+ Purolator locations or schedule a Canpar pickup from your location. If you have a request for a new location, let us know by completing our survey. Who are our partner carriers? Chit Chats partners with different carriers to handle the delivery of your shipments to your customers in Canada and around the world. This way we can pass along all of the savings to you. Learn more about our partner carriers Does Chit Chats offer a northbound service? Chit Chats does not offer a U.S. to Canada shipping service. We would be excited to bring this service to our platform however, current Canadian import limits prevent us from doing so. Which printers are compatible with Chit Chats? Chit Chats is optimized to print postage to fit a 4 x 6" label from ZPL thermal label printers like the Zebra ZP450 and Zebra GX420D sold on Chit Chats Supplies. We also support most other Zebra models, Dymo printers, the Citizen CL-S521 and standard desktop printers. How do I print postage labels? You can easily print postage labels from a regular desktop printer or set up a ZPL thermal printer. To print from a desktop printer simply select ‘Print Postage’ then 'Download' to generate a PDF file of the label which you can easily print off. Does Chit Chats have a referral program? Yes, we absolutely do! We are so grateful to clients who recommend our services to their friends, family, and business contacts. As a way of saying thanks, Chit Chats credit is earned on every shipment that originates through a referral. So for every new shipper you refer, you earn a commission on each shipment they send.

Does Chit Chats offer pickups? Depending on your region, Chit Chats may offer local pickups. We take into consideration a variety of factors from your account history, volume and service area to compliance and batch accuracy. Contact our support team to see if there is availability in your region. You can also drop off shipments at Purolator locations when you buy a SmartDrop label or access discounted Canpar rates to schedule a pickup with Canpar. Can I use prepaid postage labels or postage from another platform? No, our shipping platform offers low-cost postage options that help save you money. We offer Canadian shippers access to many competitive postage rates and services. Fully tracked and insurable postage options are available from your account with no need to upload tracking numbers. We also offer time-saving features like store integrations, bulk editing and shipping presets. Does Chit Chats offer insurance? Yes, Chit Chats has partnered with a leading third-party parcel insurance provider to cover against any loss or damage and provide an easy and quick claims process.

Can I take shipments directly to the carrier? Chit Chats partners with carriers (i.e. Canada Post, USPS) to offer the clients who use our services exclusive discounted rates on postage. For this reason, all postage printed through Chit Chats must be brought to a Chit Chats location for processing and cannot be dropped off directly to the carrier. After processing your shipments, we release them to our partner carriers who handle the final delivery to your customer. Pricing and payments Can I get a shipping quote? Yes! To get a quick quote, use the shipping calculator found on our pricing page. Or you can also sign up for a free Chit Chats account with no monthly fees to create test shipments and access live rates. All pricing is in CAD and rates are subject to change. What currency does Chit Chats show for postage rates? All pricing is displayed in CAD. Our low U.S. and international postage rates (e.g. USPS) are converted from USD to CAD based on the exchange rate. Our exchange rate is reviewed quarterly and secured through major banks, plus an exchange fee percentage to account for market fluctuations. How do I pay for postage and other services? Credits are used to pay for all postage and services from Chit Chats. You can add credits to your account easily and no additional service charges apply. We accept Canadian and U.S. credit and debit cards from American Express, Mastercard or Visa and some prepaid credit cards. To add your payment method, visit Credits + Billing in your Settings. Can I automatically top up my account with credits? Yes, easily set up automatic reload to your account so you never have to worry about delays with receiving your shipments due to insufficient funds. Visit your Credits + Billing settings Can I get receipts and statements for accounting? You can access an overview of all your transactions in your Settings under Credits + Billing. Here you’ll find details of your credits, postage fees, refunds and other charges for supplies and services. You will also be notified of monthly statements for your recordkeeping. Paperwork required Do I need to submit a manifest or customs paperwork like a CN22? No, all the details necessary for customs are automatically pulled from the descriptions you enter when creating shipments. For this reason, it’s important to be detailed and accurate when describing what you are shipping and entering the value. For example: "2 t-shirts" rather than "clothes". When is an invoice mandatory for my shipments? An invoice must be provided for all shipments with a retail value of USD $300 or more, destined for Amazon FBA or containing any item with a market value that is difficult to verify such as a collectible or gift. Ensure you attach an invoice to the outside of your package in these cases. Prohibited items and restrictions What can I ship with Chit Chats? There are some items that we cannot ship based on their destination or value. For example, we cannot accept U.S. and international shipments greater than USD $800 in retail value. Additionally, some items that we cannot ship across the U.S. border are alcohol, chocolate and weapons. View our list of prohibited items Are there other item restrictions besides Chit Chats' prohibited items? Our partner carriers like Canada Post and USPS use different transportation methods to deliver shipments which means that shipping restrictions vary by carrier. Also depending on where you are shipping internationally, different countries have different requirements to what is allowed. Be sure to research your product and the country you plan to ship to as it is the shipper's responsibility to adhere to any restrictions. What are the maximum weight limits for my shipments? Weight and dimension limits depend on the partner carrier and postage type used to send your shipment. For example, the USPS First Class Package service applies only to shipments under 1 lb while USPS Priority Mail has a maximum weight of 70 lbs. Most postage on Chit Chats includes full tracking with delivery confirmation however exceptions based on destination apply. If you need tracking for letters or flat envelopes under 1 lb, make sure to select Thick Envelope for your package type. What is a shipment ID? A shipment ID is the unique set of 10 alphanumeric characters assigned to each shipment you create with Chit Chats. It is different from the carrier tracking number but it can still be used by your customers to track their shipments on our public tracking portal. A shipment ID identifies your shipment to our Client Support team so they can better assist you with any inquiries. Where can my customers track their packages? Share our public tracking page with your customers so they can check their shipment status for themselves at any time. Provide them with either the shipment ID or the carrier tracking number found in your shipment details so they can start tracking. Do I have access to my past shipments? Yes! Easily access details and tracking information for all your recent shipments from your Chit Chats account. Respecting the privacy of you and your customers is very important to us. That’s why we remove all personally identifiable information from your shipments after 90 days and we remove shipment data completely after 15 months if no longer in transit. If you will need access to this information beyond this point, we highly recommend that you regularly export shipment data from your account for your own records. Returns Does Chit Chats provide a U.S. return address? Chit Chats offers a U.S. address for the sole purpose of returns i.e. undeliverable shipments (returned to sender) or customer returns. This means that you sent the original shipment through Chit Chats. If not, the shipment is considered an import and we are unable to accommodate it. If you are interested in using our U.S. returns address,we require a signed Power of Attorney document and CARM registration. Can I use my own return address? You have the option to use your own U.S. return address to manage your U.S. and international returns. Currently, there is no option to add your own Canadian return address. You can create return labels for your U.S. and Canadian shipments through your Chit Chats account. Read more about return postage labels Are there fees for returned shipments? Yes, return fees apply for any return shipments we process. Return fees apply to all Canada Tracked shipments. For U.S. and international shipments, return fees apply only if Chit Chats manages your return shipments. Learn about our return fees Can Chit Chats manage my returns? All Canadian return shipments are managed by Chit Chats. If you would also like Chit Chats to manage your U.S. return shipments, you must use our U.S. return address and submit a signed Power of Attorney document for approval and register with CARM.
